Trafford Park Catch Pit Clearance: What is a Catch Pit?
A catch pit is an essential part of a commercial or industrial drainage system. They are only occasionally used in domestic systems and normally in shared drainage solutions. These features are used to catch debris as it moves through the system, including silt and some types of solid waste. Catch pits, otherwise known as silt or interceptor traps, prevent certain types of materials from building up within the system. They can lead to serious pipe blockages, which can cause a wide range of problems for properties of all sizes. It was for this reason that Blockaid Ltd was called in to deal with the potential blocked drains in Manchester which could be caused by an overfull catch pit.
Clearing Catch Pits in Trafford Park, Manchester
Kuehne & Nagel, one of the UK’s largest distribution services, was struggling to deal with its drainage system at Trafford Park, Manchester. Blockaid’s experienced engineers arrived at the site and quickly identified overfilled catch pits. When these pits become full, they can cause unpleasant smells in the surrounding area. They can also cause the silt and debris to remain in the system, leading to blocked drains.
Once we arrived at the site, our engineers used our liquid waste management equipment to empty the catch pits of the silt and debris. This freed up the space and prevented the debris from creating any blockages throughout the system. It also allowed the interceptor trap to work as intended and capture incoming silt and debris.
As soon as we’d emptied the catch pits, our engineers conducted a thorough cleaning to prevent the issue reoccurring. Eventually, the pit/trap will fill up with debris and silt and require emptying again, at which point our engineers will be more than happy to help!
